terakhir, 2007, 2008, Kota Singkawang selalu digenangi banjir. Bahkan,
ratusan rumah warga harus rela tergenang air, serta beribu penduduk
terpaksa diungsikan ke lokasi yang aman.
“Kita bersyukur untuk tahun ini banjir tidak ada,” timpal Wolter.
Lebih
jauh diungkapkan dia, bebasnya Kota Singkawang dari banjir pada 2009,
dikarenakan sejumlah selokan dan irigasi di Kota Singkawang berfungsi
baik. Berfungsinya selokan itu karena tidak tersumbat oleh sampah.
“Ini buah dari kerja keras pasukan kuning serta masyarakat yang ikut ambil bagian,” imbuhnya lagi.
Karena
pentingnya menjaga kebersihan di Kota Singkawang, Wolter kembali
mengajak warga untuk berperan aktif membersihkan lingkungan di sekitar
pemukiman mereka. Menurutnya, kebersihan itu akan sulit tercipta bila
hanya mengandalkan kinerja pemerintah. Dan kebersihan itu mudah
diciptakan, bila masyarakat aktif berperan serta.
“Kita minta pada warga untuk ikut berperan aktif menjaga kebersihan,” tandasnya.
